Biography

Dr. Lakshmi K. Raut is a Staff Economist at the Social Security Administration and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Chicago. Before coming to SSA, he taught economics at Yale University, University of California-San Diego, University of Hawaii-Manoa and California State University at Fullerton. He has also worked as a consultant at the World Bank, and has worked on the International Collaboration Project Team on Aging, sponsored by the Ministry of Japan. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University, a Hewlett Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the University of Chicago and a M. Stat. degree in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute. His research and teaching areas include Machine (Deep) Learning; Applied Econometrics; Economic Theory; Early Childhood Factors and Health and Human Capital Development; Economic Growth and Development. He has published articles in journals and books, including articles in collaboration with Nobel Laureates and many eminent economists.
